Rain Rain Go Away

I hate rain and I hate snow so all this yucky weather can just go away and bring me my sunshine that I do so miss. I am ready to go outside in shorts and flip flops and soak up the sun! This week I took the kids to story time and while there I noticed that 2 of the little girls who were also there are the granddaughters of one of my facebook friends. I wanted to talk to their mom but had no idea how to do it without being a total creeper so maybe by next Tuesday I'll have thought up a way to bring it up. Kevin has been busy with wrestling although out of the 16 or so kids only 4 have good enough grades to actually wrestle in a meet so the first couple of meets have been canceled. This week Kevin learned that Silas likes water except during bath time. The past few days Kevin has been taking him for his walk around lunch time when there is a break in the rain. Kevin walked him by the pond and out of no where Silas tried to jump in but luckily it was still covered in ice. Kevin said that he has also tried to jump and play in all the puddles. So why does water in the bathtub freak him out? Silly dog.

Jury Duty

Today I had jury duty for the 3rd time. While there I made a new friend. Her name was juror number 41. She was they only other person close to me in age (she was 25 everyone else was at least 40) so we chit chatted. After we got to talking we realized I had her dad as a teacher in high school. We talked for 45 minutes while everyone checked in, then we all had to watch an extremely cheesey video, then had a 15 minute break, then had to sit through 3 hours of jury selection. Number 41 and I sat next to each other and had a good time making fun of everyone else, especially juror number 1. he absolutely did not want to be there and it was very obvious. He used every excuse known to man and every opportunity he had to complain about something to the judge. One of the lawyers motioned to have him removed and the judge said they would talk about it later. An hour later he was excused from serving. And a few hours after that they were happy with their jury and the rest of us could go home! It was supposed to be a minimum of 3 days trial so I am extremely glad ! didn't get picked! I went home to snuggle my little baby Silas.

When I got home he had his sweater on. Kevin said he was cold and needed it. (And Kevin tried to stop me from buying one)

He found a little stick and carried it for like a block during our walk.

Jungle George's

Monday Aubrey didn't have school and since it was freezing outside I decided we would try out this new place in town called Jungle George's. It is an indoor play area for kids. They have arcade games, a few small rides, and 7 bouncy houses. All the kids there were loving it! The dads that were there seemed to be loving the arcade section. The girls jumped for about three hours! It was a great way to burn off all their extra energy and we will definitely be going back for more fun in the future.

TGIF

We really haven't been doing anything exciting lately. Basically just working and hanging out with Silas. Kevin had drill this past weekend and my cheer leading season started last Monday. As if Mondays don't stink enough already now I have practice Monday nights, which means if I get off work on time I have just enough time to walk Silas, change my clothes, and grab a snack because I won't get home until close to 9pm. Blah!!! In other news Silas is finally starting to understand his bell training. Yesterday and today he rang the bell every time he wanted/needed to go outside! And he even pooped in the area we want him to without being on the leash!

Silas

Little baby Silas is four months old today. He is also a very expensive little guy. I am very glad we got him and I am sure he is too. I don't think the shelter he was at was taking very good care of the dogs there and poor little baby Silas has all sorts of issues they didn't take care of; fleas, double ear infection, tape worms, and diarrhea. So we have spent the three weeks we have had him getting him all fixed up and healthy.

Vet Visit

Today we took Silas to the vet for his last vaccine. He now weighs 22.2 pounds. While we were there I had a bunch of questions to ask the vet which she answered each and every one with an answer that lasted at last one to two minutes. (I appreciated that) we had his ears looked at and his hernia and knees looked at very closely since they are his trouble areas. His ears were red inside and he now has medicine for that but his hernia was fine and his knees were fine except for still being loose. Overall we had a good visit although the vet would like us to increase his feedings to 1 1/2 cups at each feeding. She also said we are doing a great job with everything and most of his problems are just normal puppy problems which we are hoping he grows out of soon.

This is how Kevin likes to play:

Happy New Year!

It is officially 2013! 2012 was overall a good year so I'm hoping 2013 is even better. How did we spend our New Years Eve? Out at the bar? No. At a wild party? No. At a mild get together? No. We spent it at home watching tv. Due to Silas' separation anxiety we weren't able to go out and do anything. We did however go out for dinner. We left Silas alone for about an hour, give or take five minutes, and he didn't poop! We are going to start working on getting his anxiety under control. I have done a lot of internet research and it all has the same technique to use, the two main things are to not make a big deal about leaving and not make a big deal about coming home. When we left we used baby gates to section off a space for him and said a simple goodbye and left. When we got home we got to the door and started to unlock it we could hear him barking but the barking sounded very close. We walked into the house expecting to smell dog poop but instead were greeted by Silas himself. He is not very graceful, can't jump very well, has a hernia, and a bad knee and still somehow manged to get over two different baby gates. We honestly have no idea how he manged it and are a little worried about him because he is walking a bit stiffly. He goes to the vet for a vaccine and a hernia check on Thursday so I'll have him looked at to make sure nothing is really hurt.

He was in the back section with some toys and blankets and made it the gates to the livingroom.
