Darn you germs!

It finally happened. I am sick. (I'm pretty sure its only a cold) I rarely get sick and I have some how managed to steer clear of every sickness I have been exposed to. I mean come on for over a year I have had a toddler and now a baby sneezing and coughing in my face and never once got their germs. But some how a germ managed to get into my body and knock me down. I feel like crap, I sneezed so many times yesterday that I thought my nose would just fly off with one of them. I can't breathe and didn't sleep well (that was mostly Silas' fault but we'll get to that)  and Kevin isn't here to take care of me. Its like umm hello I don't feel well skip wrestling practice and take care of me. He did say he would bring me home soup so he better or once I get my energy back I will hurt him. And now time for every one's favorite part of the blog.....

Silas Problems: Around 2:30 this morning I kept hearing Silas scratching on the door. Sometimes he does this when he tries to get comfortable in his sleep, so I paid no attention to it and tried to go back to sleep. He kept doing it and the more time went on it got louder and louder so eventually Kevin yelled at him to lay down and go to sleep. That lasted a whole one minute, so I got up to let him outside but I couldn't find him. I checked in front of the door, nope not there, I checked in his bed, nope not there either, I checked in the closet (he got stuck in there the other day while I was putting laundry away) not there. I looked all over the room and he was no where to be found so I checked the hallway in case some how he got locked out of the bedroom. Then I realized where the scratching was coming from, our bathroom. Somehow he locked himself in the bathroom. The poor guy was stuck in there for at least an hour before I got him out.

Happy Monday

Don't worry I'll just lay here while you try to get the dishes out of the sink and into the dishwasher.

Spin spin spiny spin spin

Today my gym friend A and I took a spin class. She had taken spin classes a few years ago but this was my first one. I thought I was going to die! Even A said she was struggling (glad I'm not the only one) and she is in better shape than I am. It was very intense. I also think I am too short for the bikes there, even wen I am in the standing position my bike seat is right at my butt and while I'm standing and pedaling it is jabbing me in my butt cheeks which is not comfortable. A said it might just be that I'm new at it it and it might take some time to find my right stance and such, boy do I hope so because I don't want to be poked in my butt every time I pedal. After we did spin we went out and did some arm exercises on the weights machines. I love working out with A, its like having a free personal trainer that wants to talk just as much as I do. She showed me how to use some of the machines she likes and was very good about showing/helping me with my form. Depending on how my legs feel I might try another spin class on Tuesday, sadly it will be without A since she works with a trainer on that night.

Another blog??

My friend Holli (I met Holli when I taught preschool at Pine Hills) moved to Thailand over the weekend to work for Destiny Rescue. They rescue girls from the sex slave trade and rehabilitate them. Holli is so kind and caring, she truly is the most perfect person for the job. If you are interested in following her year long journey this is the link to her blog.  http://athailandadventure.wordpress.com/

Bruno Mars

For those of you who don't know Bruno Mars has a new cd out! I absolutely love him and had to have it there very second I found out. So a huge thank you to the best almost/maybe some day/ sorta kinda brother in law the world has ever known, Mitchell! I texted him at 8am and before dinner time I had a copy!! Click here to listen to my new favorite song that I can now listen to all the time thanks to Mitchell.

Lets play catch up

On Sunday Kevin and I went o buy chickens! We bought two chickens and since stupid Fort Wayne said we can't have them as pets Kevin and Joshy slaughtered them so we could have chicken for dinner. I was not happy about the process so I stayed inside.

He had baby goats and they were sooooo cute! I absolutely hate goats and am terrified of them but the babies were so cute it made me want one.

We let Silas run around the farm. At first he was very excited and didn't know what to do but eventually he decided it would be tons of fun to chase the baby goats in circles around the barn. (I wish I had a video of that)

The chickens are in the blue box. At first he just by them but after about 5 minutes we had to move him up front for the ride home because he would not leave them alone.

Joshy!!!

When ever anyone cooks this is where Silas thinks he needs to be, right in the way.

Chicken

I ate mine

The boys on the other hand had legs (I had a small piece of breast) and they were soo tough they couldn't even eat them. =(

On Monday-Wednesday was work as usual and on Thursday I worked an extra day. Blah I hate working extra days but I like money so I guess I will work  the extra days here and there when needed. All week Silas, who hates being in a room alone, has been putting himself to bed at 9 pm. One night we couldn't find him, he was in our bed all snuggled in the pillows and blankets. And every night around nine he asks to go out and when I let him in he goes straight to that same spot, maybe he is growing? On Friday I cleaned the house started Kevin's insane amount of laundry (he seriously had a whole load of clothes from ONE day) and made cookies!

It took me a couple batches to get the cook time and cookie thickness right so a lot of them were a bit crunchy. Yuck!

Kevin had friends over Friday night to play poker. One of Kevin's friends Kris is very tall and Silas did not like him being here. He wanted nothing to do with him. He barked and growled and would go absolutely no where near him. He didn't seem to mind Kevin's other friends too much. He did not like that they were here, it made him very nervous. They played in the sun room and Silas did not want to go near it. When I let him outside he refused to come back in so after like 20 minutes I literally had to tug and pull and drag him inside. (For those of you who don't know he has to go through the sun room to go outside, which is why he did not want to come in) Kevin's friends must not have carried that the cookies were a bit hard because they ate all but 8 of them. Today Silas keeps checking the sun room to make sure everything is in order and all of the guys are gone.

It's official

I just got the call little baby Silas starts school in March. He will finally learn some manners! The lady on the phone very nicely informed me that the first day is basically chaos and extremely overwhelming but in a few weeks it will start to get better. Oh boy. All I know is that Silas and I are going to have a long talk about he better not be the worst listener there.

Bad Boys Bad Boys.......

Yesterday we had quite a productive day. We were up and going by 9 am! Kevin had to go drop off something for a funeral while I showered and got ready and once he got home we were off. We ran a few errands, stopped by the bank, then the vet, then my moms, then the gas station, then the bank again, and then home for a few minutes.

At the vet we picked up Silas' heart worm preventer stuff and scheduled the appointment for his surgeries. On March 20th he will have a total of three surgeries. He will be neutered, have his hernia repaired, and his dew claws removed. Poor guy! I am dreading it (I don't want him to hurt) and made the appoint so that Kevin will have to be the one to take him in. Can you believe they told me pain meds are optional?!?!?!!?! I told Kevin we are for sure getting him the pain meds but as for the other optional tests before during and after the surgery I am still considering. While there Kevin weighed him and Silas is 36 pounds now.

After eating a quick lunch Kevin went to do a funeral, and I went to cheerleading. Which was crazy! Very last minuter my assistant coach called to tell me she wouldn't be there. So I was by myself with a bunch of kids on sugar highs. I don't understand why parents think it is ok to give their children mt dew instead of water. Seriously no third grader needs mt dew. Kevin and I arrived home and then went to Saturday night dinner. Kevin then went home to play video games and I went to target.

Around 12 am we were in bed watching a show (Bobs burgers to be exact. it is an incredibly stupid show but for some reason we just keep watching it) when I heard what i thought were police sirens very close to us. I didn't really think anything of it because we live so close to State St and Lake and Coliseum. Silas was acting like he need to pee so I let him out and while doing so I saw a bunch of cop cars go flying down the street behind us and down our street so I went and told Kevin about it. He said maybe someone had been robbing one of the apartment complexes near by and ran in here to hid. Silas usually never barks and then he was barking pretty loudly outside so given got up put on shoes and went to check it out. Nope no one was in our yard but when we checked out front all the cop cars were at the end of our street. It was amazing, I like the show Cops and it was like an episode was happening right in front of me!!! Kevin said we couldn't walk down there but one of the neighbors did and she said there was a car chase and the car they were chasing ended up in the neighborhood pond. I am now anxiously waiting for it to be on the news tonight so I can know what was going on. I'll let you know when I find out.

Be My Valentine

Happy Valentines Day!!

We don't have much planned for today, no big fancy dinner just shape macaroni(we have had this every year) and maybe fish . Kevin left at 8:30 this morning and said he won't be back until around 6 or 6:30. So I guess I will get to spend the whole day with the cutest Valentine ever, Silas. Silas and I have big plans for today: 1. Do our normal Thursday cleaning 2. Go for a walk 3. Snuggle. 4. Maybe bake cookies.

This was my delicious breakfast. After I ate it I was very sad that I didn't think to put the raspberries on in a heart shape

This is his Valentine treat. It is an old washcloth soaked in beef broth and frozen. Silas has been teething like crazy for the past week(he lost four teeth in one day) and when his teeth get really lose or fall out there is a lot of blood and it was making me very upset. So of course I googled. I came across an article that said you could get an old washcloth/towel wet then freeze it, well he only chewed on that for like one minute then ignored it. So I thought I would try beef broth. He likes these a bit more than the water ones but still only chews for 5 minutes or so then will leave it and come back to it for a bit more. I have also been keeping some of his toys in the fridge so that he has something cool to chew on when his gums feel sore.

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday Amy!!!!

Workout Buddy

Today I went to my second yoga class (I missed the Wednesday night class) and I again really liked it. I got there a little early this time and started to chit chat  with another lady we'll call her A) it was her first yoga class so she was a newbie too. We chatted for a while, apparently Victoria's Secret is having a big sale soon, and then class got started. Class focused mostly on back muscles today so I thought it was a bit harder than last time. After class A and I chatted some more and decided we would both benefit from working out together. We exchanged numbers and set up some times to meet at the gym. I'm very excited because I think it is boring to go to the gym alone and also this way I have someone other than myself to hold me accountable. In other news Kevin has drill this so Silas and I will just be cleaning up the house this weekend. My baby turned 5 months old yesterday in one more month he is old enough to attend obedience school. I sent in his application and check last week so I'm hoping for a call sometime soon letting me know when he can start.

Home Improvements ?

For the past couple of weeks Kevin has been working on making the sun room into an actual room, although it still needs some work. Since we've been in the house all that room has been used for was storage of lawn chairs and my couch. After all of Kevin's hard work it is now a pretty livable space. We have actually been spending a lot of time in here. I think its a bit chilly in there since there is no heat/ac source in the room. Kevin is thinking about putting in base board heaters?? Is that a thing? During the day when we are home we keep the door to the kitchen open so that the heat gets in there but due to my neurotic safety fears I like the house to be locked up extremely tight. Kevin replaced the locks on the doors in the sun room and is making sticks to stop the doors from being able to be opened and I bought a new handle and dead bolt for the front door which Kevin very kindly installed. With the thought of Kevin being gone my safety fears have increased so I'm hoping with all the changes I will feel better about it.

Pushing water off the roof

Don't laugh at our back room tv, we are young and poor

Kevin got this for like $20.

Just when I thought I liked the new room this thing comes crawling

He loves when the door is open

Smarty Pants Smarty Pants

I'm moving up in the world of technology. That's right I am now an owner of an iphone. My phone started not working right a few weeks ago. It would just not ring at all whenever I got a call or text and then last week my screen kept freezing up. So since I have had an upgrade for over a year I decided it was time to get a new phone.

Sick day

Today I had a "sick day". Aaron and Natalie had been feeling pretty yucky yesterday. Aaron was still feeling yucky and had a fever this morning so Charlene called me this morning to let me know I could go back to sleep if I wanted because she was going to stay home from work. I had just gotten up to let Silas outside so after he did his business and ate breakfast we went back to bed! We got up and snuggled on the couch for an hour! He never snuggles with me, he gives all his snuggles to Kevin. After that I decided I would finish the cleaning I started but never finished on Saturday. Yep, I spent my day off cleaning and playing with Silas.

Yoga

Today I went to my first yoga class. The class consisted of about 12 people (3 were men and that made me want to giggle) most of them older women. It was a lot harder than I expected it to be (there were 70 year old ladies in there more flexible than me) but even though it was difficult it was relaxing and I can already feel all that stretching in my muscles. The class took about 45 minutes so I did 15 minutes of weights afterwards. Now I'm off to take a shower and get ready for cheerleading at 1.

The year of healthy 2

Get to the gym......... I started on that yesterday. On Thursday I met with a personal trainer and we talked about my fitness goals and realistic expectations. She weighed me (119 eeek! A year and a half ago I was 115 and I would like to see that number go down to at least 110 by next January) then did my bmi which was in the normal range, and found my body fat something or other which is 19% body fat which she said was healthy but I would like to see it go down a bit. Then she showed me how to use a lot of the machines and came up with a workout plan for me (which we did together while I was there and am now sore). She filled out a workout sheet that stays in an accessible file cabinet so every time I go to the gym I fill it out and we can track my progress. She also teaches a yoga class every Wednesday and Saturday so tomorrow I will go to my first yoga class!

The year of healthy 1

I never really make New Years resolutions because I never keep them but this year I decided to make some.
 1. Learn to cook.
2. Eat healthy.
3. Get to the gym at least 3 times a week.
I have very slowly started working on these. I mean extremely slowly. I have always been a pretty healthy eater. I like fruits and vegetables and such but lately have been slacking on eating well. Kevin and I had got into a habit  of eating out a lot, which was not only unhealthy but also bad on our bank accounts. So for the past month we have been eating dinner at home more, lots of chicken and fish. We have also been trying to eat better in general. So for breakfast we either have a homemade spinach and fruit smoothie or oatmeal, my lunches usually consist of leftovers or half a pb&j sandwich with yogurt and fruit and Kevin has tuna (side note I hate tuna! The smell makes me want to puke and I can smell it the second he opens the can no matter where I am at in the house).  We use coconut milk in our smoothies and ran out of milk this week so we used it in our mac and cheese and I used it in my oatmeal and couldn't even taste the difference. I would like to use it in things that call for like recipes but I am not brave enough to try it in my cereal.

I didnt have a pic so I took this one from the internet

I'm not exactly sure why its better than cows milk (I guess I'll look that up after I finish up this blog) actually I bought it because its what one of my friends uses in her smoothies and it was her recipe I was using.
